The success in fishing operations has given the company opportunities to venture into canning sardines operations. In 1998 MFC with it's rival (universal canning corp.) finished it's first canning plant in Ayala,Zamboanga named "Ayala Seafoods Corp". Then in 1999 MFC bought out Universal giving MFC whole ownership of Ayala. MFC has proposed another canning plant to be completed in the near future. MFC is also venturing into the tuna business as well as the calamansi business. Which will be available to the market at 2004.
